In 1992, George Strait filmed the movie "Pure Country" in Texas and Las Vegas.   The photos below were taken by long-time Strait fan Rita Dover at the Texas location shoot....Rita and some of her friends were on the set and she has graciously shared these photos....thanks to her,  we can now see an exclusive glimpse of George while he was preparing and rehearsing for various movie scenes....the film was released in October of 1992 and had a star-studded premiere in Nashville....
The movie's opening scenes were filmed here.....George sang his eventual #1 song "Heartland" ...."Baby Your Baby"...and "Where the Sidewalk Ends"......
That is one sexy cowboy.....;)
A  break in between movie takes....folks familiar with how films are done, know that it takes awhile to get the "scenes" set up....then once they're done, the actors have to wait until the next "take" is ready to be filmed....
George exiting his bus on the set.....this was just after he'd had the ponytail clipped and shaved his beard.....the scene when he walks into the bar "brand new" was filmed that day.....
George talking with the movie director...Chris Cain....
The movie scene where George walked towards the "barber shop" where he got his ponytail clipped and beard shaved off ....
Walking with director Chris Cain.....
Grait glimpse of the ponytail and, of course, those tight, sexy black Wranglers....
The scene where George got into the rig that took him to his "grandma's" house....and he exchanged his boots with the driver.....;)
Another break on the set in between "takes"....
Nice to see George laughing...looks like folks were able to relax in between takes...(above and below).....
Here's a story from the set:    Rita told me that she was able to chat with George many times during the filming....and one day George asked her if she (and her friends on the set) were being "fed".....she told him that yes, they were getting great lunches from Kraft Services every day...then George joked back "good, all I get is Spam!"....LOL    So since George celebrated his 40th birthday while on location,  she ordered the cake above for George and gave it to him along with a can of Spam!!!  Afterwards George went back into his bus and the girls walked in front of it...George saw them, tapped on the front window and mouthed the words "I love spam!"   Rita said he was just so cute when he did that....and that, for her, it was the best day of the filming !!!    They got to surprise and make the Cowboy laugh ....I would say that's a grait day right there....thanks Rita for sharing this sweet story....:)
The 2 photos (above and below) were taken during the rodeo scenes when "Dusty" tries to talk to "Harley" ....
